But this year the show-jumping thoroughbred will let the other horses take the reins.

Ryebucks Saddlery will host its second unofficial show jumping event at the Ballarat Show on Sunday.

Entrants will weave through a 12-jump course, or varying heights, to win a cash prize.

Riders can compete in the 60 to 120-centimetre height categories.

Ryebucks manager Bianca Austin said anybody was welcome to enter.

“It is an unofficial show jumping competition, so you don’t need to be an Equestrian Australia member,” Ms Austin said.

“The oldest competitor we’ve had was 58 and the youngest was 10 years old.”

The jumper who clears the course without fault and the quickest time is deemed the winner.

“The winner will receive an embroidered Ryebucks wool rug,” Ms Austin said.

Money raised from round entry fees will be awarded to the winner.

Entrants pay $5 per round and can enter a maximum of three rounds.

Ribbons are awarded to riders who place first to sixth.

Ms Austin said about 20 people had registered so far.

“It’s going to be a fun time for everyone,” she said.
