It won’t be the first time playing in Launceston for the cricket and soccer international, who played for New South Wales against the Tassie Roar at the NTCA Ground last summer.

Perry, a right-handed batter and right-arm fast-medium bowler, has scored 1223 runs and taken 158wickets over all three forms of the game since making her international debut in 2007.

She was part of the Southern Stars team that demolished the West Indies in Adelaide on Wednesday, taking 2-10 from three overs and run out for four on the final ball of the Australian innings.

Perry and her Southern Stars teammates will be in action again today against the West Indies at the MCG.

‘‘She’s an extraordinary sporting talent and very good person to go with that,’’ Aussie 15s organiser Tim Coyle said.

‘‘When this opportunity came up in her schedule that there was no W-League soccer or WNCL cricket and this was mentioned, she jumped at it, which is a real credit to her.

‘‘Last year we were able to value add to the competition with Ricky Ponting, and that really made a difference, and we think Ellyse has a similar pulling power, even though it will bring a different demographic.

‘‘She’s an exceptional cricketer and it will be a great opportunity for the people to come and watch her play and it can help us create some more interest in the female game in the lead-up to the Roar playing at Aurora [the following weekend].’’

Perry will line-up for the Launceston Cricket Club-aligned Oak Royals, who are connected with The Royal Oak, for the gala day on Sunday, November 23.

She will be in Tasmania before that weekend promoting women’s cricket for Cricket Australia.

Launceston band Brandish, which released The Ellyse Perry Song song on YouTube, will play the track live as part of the day.

Ellyse Perry bowling for NSW when it played the Tasmanian Roar in Launceston last year. She will return to play in the Aussie 15s later this month.
