The club will hold a Nippers open day tomorrow from 2pm until 4pm at the clubhouse on West Beach.

Junior co-ordinator Shane Askew said the Nippers group offered a rare combination of skills development, sporting achievement and service to the community.

“Nippers is a great way to get into the surf lifesaving scene and learn vital skills in and on the water, and a pathway to serving the community in one of the nation’s oldest organisations,” he said.

“Many of our current senior members started out as Nippers and are now competing both nationally and internationally, and performing an important role in keeping the public safe on our beaches, and helping with search and rescue operations.”

For more information go to the beach tomorrow or call Craig Machen on 0429 808 846 or Geri Doherty on 0400 029 503.
