Horsham Chaplaincy Committee chairwoman Pauline Schmidt said the event was always well attended.

“People know about it now and they bring their trolleys and wait at the hall until we open the doors,” she said.

“Sometimes there are 40 or 50 people waiting outside to get the best books.”

Mrs Schmidt said all books on sale at the fair were donated.

“For anyone who wants to grab a good read for the holiday, there are plenty of books here,” she said.

“The books are sorted and catalogued by volunteers into categories so they are easy to find.”

Mrs Schmidt said Horsham College chaplain Susie Penny ran a free breakfast two days a week at the school using money raised from the fair.

“They have about 60 children show up each morning,” she said.

“The breakfast is for children who didn’t get a chance to eat it in the morning, because they have to leave home too early or they aren’t provided with it.”

Mrs Schmidt said Apex Club 15 Horsham provided helpers to pack up at the fair. Wimmera Waste Busters will provide a truck to transport leftover books for recycling.

The fair will be in the Ian Maroske Assembly Hall at Horsham College.

It will run from noon to 9pm on November 14 and 9am to noon on November 15.
