Applications for the position closed on November 3..

“We’ll get a short list soon and start the interview process,” board member Mike Parsons of Taree said.

Mr Parsons added that this is part of the restructure of the game on the Mid North Coast. He said there have been a number of inquiries for the position.

“We’re looking to expand our base and take our game to a more professional level in this area,” Mr Parsons added.

FMNC already employs a full time coaching director and accounts administrator. Mr Parsons confirmed the successful applicant will work out the FMNC’s headquarters at Port Macquarie. The general manager will be in charge of all facets of the game in this area, from juniors to representative teams and the Football Mid North Coast Premier League along with FMNC’s southern and northern domestic competitions. The premier league is contested by 10 teams from Forster-Tuncurry to Kempsey.

There are two Manning clubs in the competition, Taree and Old Bar and two from Forster-Tuncurry, current champions Wallis Lake and Tuncurry-Forster, with Tuncurry-Forster returning to the competition next year after defeating Wingham in a promotion/relegation game at the conclusion of last season.

Mr Parsons also confirmed the association’s offices for the southern section of the zone at Taree Recreation Centre will remain closed.

“This hasn’t been operational since the resignation of an employee 10 months ago,” he said.

He said all the administrative work will be centralised in Port Macquarie.

However, Mr Parsons said the current office space at Taree will be converted for other use, including a meeting room and storage.
