CWA South West Group Conference in Boorowa

The newley elected CWA South West-Group team.Nicola Mitton from Grenfell CWA was elected treasurer for a third term at the CWA 83rd South West Group conference at Boorowa on October 20.

President Jenny Thompson commenced the day with a welcome to all followed by the National Anthem and CWA motto Jenny then gave a short history of the Wirradjuri people the original inhabitants.

Members and visiting Groups were made welcome by local CWA President Pam Wilson followed by Deputy Mayor Chris Corcoran also gave a welcomed all on behalf of Boorowra Council. Rev. Deacon Patrick Whale with his wife Fran gave his blessing of the Conference

Former State CWA Secretary and guest speaker, Elsie Kimball (L) with Nicola Mitton of Grenfell who was reelected a s South west Group Treasurer at the South West Group Conference.

Elsie Kimball, a former State Secretary and delightful Guest Speaker, officially opened the Conference. Elsie gave an insight to her thirty eight years involvement with CWA

Brenda Phillips brought greeting from Southern Tablelands Group as did Gail Hayden from Central Western Group.

Mrs. Ruth Dainith gave a vote of thanks to the President, Executive Representative, Secretary and Treasurer for their Group Reports. Branch reports were all varied, interesting and productive.

Grenfell Craft Shop has been operating for forty two years with all voluntary labour. Young Craft Shop is on track with the community behind it.

The trading table was very successful with the “unusual” competition proving a great hit

2015 Group Conference will be hosted by Morongla Creek on 12th October

The next Council meeting and Christmas party is at the Presbyterian Church hall in Cowra on 1st December. The two competitions for the day hand made Christmas card of any size and best dressed in Christmas attire

Another very successful and satisfying CWA day was enjoyed by all.
