Alice Lyden, Abby Rae, Dolly Powell, Katie Salter and Harrison Clinch are all junior coaches travelling with the five Tamworth junior tams and Jason Gross (overseeing coach) and Gordon Rae (touring supervisor).

“It’s great for them,” said Tamworth Water Polo Association’s Gail Salter.

“Great they are coaching these young sides and putting something back in. They have already got a lot out of it and can only help them develop as players as well.”

Alice Lyden will coach the 14 and under girls team as well as the Trojans Under 13 mixed side.

Abby Rae and Dolly Powell are sharing the coaching duties with the Tamworth 15 and Under girls’ team while Katie Salter is in charge of the of the Under 13 Titans Mixed side.

Harrison Clinch will coach the 15 and under boys’ team.

The coaching duties are also part of Dolly Powelll’s Duke Of Edinburgh Award.

“She has to complete so many hours of community service and that includes such things as coaching, and umpiring junior teams. It all goes into the award.

The five Tamworth teams will play teams made up of players from Alstonville, Lismore and the North Coast over the weekend as part of valuable lead-ins to major tournaments and selection trials in the coming months.

Tamworth Water Polo has also applied for National and State Championships and hopes to snare at least one carnival to go with the State CHS Boys Water Polo Carnival it will host at the end of the month.
